
About the Role
A Behavioral Health Specialist is a mental health professional who provides support and treatment for individuals dealing with behavioral and emotional issues. They work with clients to develop coping strategies, improve mental health, and enhance overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments: Evaluate clients' mental health conditions through interviews, observations, and tests.
Develop treatment plans: Create individualized treatment plans based on clients' needs and goals.
Provide therapy: Facilitate individual, group, or family therapy sessions using evidence-based practices.
Monitor progress: Track clients' progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
Provide crisis intervention: Offer support and intervention during mental health crises.
Collaborate with healthcare team: Work with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care.
Educate clients and families: Provide education and support to clients and their families about mental health conditions and coping strategies.
Maintain records: Keep accurate and detailed records of client interactions and treatment plans.
Requirements
Education: Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
Licensure: Valid state license to practice as a mental health counselor or therapist.
Experience: Typically requires 2+ years of experience in a clinical setting.
Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, empathy, analytical reasoning, and organizational abilities.
Specialized training: Experience in specific therapy modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or trauma-informed care, is preferred.
