
About the Role
A Cardiovascular Technologist, also known as a Cardiac Sonographer, specializes in using imaging technology to assess the heart and blood vessels. They perform diagnostic tests and assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostic tests: Conduct tests such as echocardiograms, stress tests, and Holter monitoring to assess heart function.
Prepare patients: Explain procedures, obtain medical histories, and ensure patient comfort and safety.
Operate imaging equipment: Use and maintain equipment like ultrasound machines and EKG devices.
Monitor patients: Observe patients during procedures, recording vital signs and ensuring patient safety.
Analyze results: Provide preliminary evaluations and communicate findings to physicians.
Maintain records: Keep accurate records of patient data and test results.
Stay updated
Requirements
Education: Associate's degree in Cardiovascular Technology or a related field; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Certification: Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or a similar recognized body.
Experience: Previous experience as a Cardiovascular Technologist is preferred.
Skills: Strong attention to detail, technical proficiency, and excellent patient care skills.
Interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
