A Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a healthcare professional who supports physicians and nurses in providing patient care. They perform both administrative and clinical tasks to ensure the smooth operation of medical offices, clinics, and hospitals.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care: Assist with patient examinations, take vital signs, and prepare patients for procedures.
Clinical Tasks: Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, administer injections, and perform basic laboratory tests.
Administrative Tasks: Schedule patient appointments, maintain medical records, and handle billing and insurance forms.
Patient Education: Provide patients with information on medications, diets, and other health-related topics.
Office Management: Order medical supplies, maintain inventory, and ensure the cleanliness and organization of the medical office.
Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
