
About the Role
A Director of Clinical Informatics is responsible for overseeing the integration and management of clinical information systems within a healthcare organization. They ensure that technology solutions enhance patient care, improve clinical workflows, and support operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead clinical informatics initiatives: Design and implement clinical informatics systems to improve patient care and operational results.
Collaborate with stakeholders: Work with top management, IT departments, and clinical staff to align informatics strategies with organizational goals.
Develop policies and procedures: Establish standards for equipment maintenance, testing, calibration, documentation, and inventory processes.
Provide technical leadership: Develop training resources for medical staff to ensure correct and safe operations of all equipment and devices.
Vendor management: Maintain relationships with vendors to stay updated on new products and equipment upgrades.
Support specialty areas: Address the equipment needs of various specialty areas, such as Radiology, Clinical Pathology, Cardiology, and Respiratory Therapy.
Strategic planning: Develop annual goals and objectives related to biomedical technology and manage the department's operating budget.
Ensure compliance: Ensure all program elements comply with regulatory and inspection agency requirements, guidelines, and standards.
Problem resolution: Resolve escalated issues arising from operations and coordinate with other departments.
Requirements
Education: Master's degree in Nursing, Biomedical Informatics, Health Informatics, or a related field.
Experience: Typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience in clinical informatics or a related field.
Certifications: Relevant certifications may be required, depending on the specific role and location.
Skills: Strong technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and excellent communication skills.
