
About the Role
A Lab Quality and MLS (Medical Laboratory Science) Program Director is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance and educational programs within a clinical laboratory setting. This role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, managing staff, and maintaining high standards of laboratory practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee quality assurance programs: Develop and implement quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
Manage MLS educational programs: Supervise and coordinate the educational programs for medical laboratory science students, ensuring curriculum alignment with industry standards.
Conduct audits and inspections: Perform regular audits and inspections of laboratory practices to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance.
Provide staff training: Develop and deliver training programs for laboratory staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Collaborate with stakeholders: Work with healthcare professionals, educational institutions, and regulatory bodies to maintain high standards of laboratory practice.
Evaluate program effectiveness: Assess the effectiveness of quality assurance and educational programs, making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
Maintain documentation: Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of quality assurance activities and educational program outcomes.
Requirements
Education: Master's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field; a Doctorate is often preferred.
Experience: Typically requires 5+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Certifications: Certification from a recognized body such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
Skills: Strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of laboratory practices and regulations.
Interpersonal skills: Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare teams, educational institutions, and regulatory bodies.
